Terms of Service

Welcome to SWG: Echelon (“we,” “us,” “our”). These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of the SWG: Echelon website, services, and associated private game server (collectively, the “Service”). By accessing or using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

1. About SWG: Echelon

SWG: Echelon is a fan-made, non-commercial private server for Star Wars Galaxies, operated for entertainment, preservation, and community purposes. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Sony Online Entertainment (SOE), Daybreak Game Company, Lucasfilm Ltd., or Disney.

All trademarks and copyrights related to Star Wars and Star Wars Galaxies are the property of their respective owners.

2. Eligibility

By using the Service, you represent that:

  • You are at least 13 years of age (or the minimum age required in your jurisdiction).
  • You are legally permitted to access fan-run game servers in your country or region.
  • You agree to comply with these Terms and all applicable laws.

3. Account Registration

To access certain features, you may be required to create an account.

You agree to:

  • Provide accurate and current information.
  • Maintain the security of your login credentials.
  • Accept responsibility for all activity conducted under your account.

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms or Server Rules.

4. Server Rules and Conduct

Use of the Service is subject to all posted Server Rules, Community Guidelines, and Policies, which are incorporated into these Terms by reference.

You agree not to:

  • Harass, threaten, or abuse other players or staff.
  • Use exploits, cheats, bots, macros, or unauthorized third-party software.
  • Disrupt server stability, performance, or gameplay.
  • Impersonate staff or other players.
  • Engage in real-money trading (RMT) involving in-game assets.
  • Attempt to gain unauthorized access to accounts, data, or systems.

Violations may result in warnings, temporary suspensions, permanent bans, or account wipes at staff discretion.

5. Alpha, Beta, and Experimental Features

SWG: Echelon may be in alpha, beta, or active development at any time.

You acknowledge that:

  • Features may change, break, or be removed without notice.
  • Characters, items, currency, or progress may be reset or wiped.
  • Gameplay balance is not guaranteed.
  • You participate at your own risk.

6. Donations and Virtual Items

SWG: Echelon operates on a donation-based model.
Donations are voluntary and are not required to play.
Donations do not grant ownership of in-game items, characters, or accounts.
Donations are non-refundable, except where required by law.
No in-game content has real-world monetary value.

7. Ownership and Intellectual Property

All original content created by the SWG: Echelon team (including code, configurations, text, and branding) remains the property of SWG: Echelon.

You acknowledge that:

  • Characters, items, and accounts exist solely on the server.
  • You do not own any in-game assets or progression.
  • We may modify or delete content at any time.

8. User-Generated Content

By submitting content (including forum posts, bug reports, suggestions, or media), you grant SWG: Echelon a non-exclusive, royalty-free license to use, modify, and display that content for server and community purposes.

You are responsible for ensuring your submissions do not infringe on third-party rights.

9. Privacy

We collect limited information necessary to operate the Service (such as usernames, IP addresses, and logs).

  • We do not sell personal data.
  • We take reasonable steps to protect your information.
  • Absolute security cannot be guaranteed.

10. Service Availability

The Service is provided on an “as-is” and “as-available” basis.

We do not guarantee:

  • Continuous uptime
  • Data persistence
  • Error-free operation

Maintenance, downtime, or shutdowns may occur at any time without notice.

11. Termination

We reserve the right to:

  • Suspend or terminate access at any time, with or without notice.
  • Remove accounts, characters, or data for rule violations or operational reasons.

You may stop using our Service at any time.

12. Disclaimer of Warranties

To the fullest extent permitted by law, SWG: Echelon disclaims all warranties, express or implied, including but not limited to merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.

13. Limitation of Liability

SWG: Echelon and its staff shall not be liable for:

  • Loss of data, characters, or virtual items
  • Service interruptions or shutdowns
  • Any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages

14. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms at any time.

Continued use of the Service after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.

15. Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by and interpreted in accordance with the laws of the jurisdiction in which the server operators reside, without regard to conflict-of-law principles.

16. SWG: Echelon Copyright and Content Protection

All original content, materials, and intellectual property created for SWG: Echelon, including but not limited to custom code, configurations, systems, mechanics, documentation, text, branding, logos, names, and website content, are the exclusive property of the SWG: Echelon team, unless otherwise stated.

You may not copy, reproduce, modify, distribute, publish, transmit, reverse engineer, or create derivative works from any SWG: Echelon-owned content without explicit written permission from the SWG: Echelon administration.

Unauthorized use of SWG: Echelon intellectual property may result in legal action, account termination, access bans, and removal of offending content.

Star Wars™, Star Wars Galaxies™, and all related names, characters, logos, and imagery are trademarks and copyrights of Sony Online Entertainment (SOE), Daybreak Game Company, Lucasfilm Ltd., Disney, and their respective owners. SWG: Echelon is a fan-made, non-commercial project and is not affiliated with or endorsed by these entities.

If you believe that SWG: Echelon content has been copied, misused, or redistributed without authorization, or if you are a rights holder with concerns, please contact the server staff through official channels so that appropriate action may be taken.
